ORIGINAL MUSIC
Miss Kull has written many songs in a variety of genres including Jazz, Gospel and R & B and continues to write new music. Her duo The Mayfair Girls has written several songs filled with their characteristic harmonies and they hope to get in the studio to record before too long (stay tuned for updates!). In 2005 Mary worked with pianist and composer Dan Shure bringing her lyrics and melodies together with his keys. To listen to 2 of their studio recordings Click here
GUEST APPEARANCES
Mary is pleased to have been a guest vocalist for several great musical groups including the Amorphous Band and Percy Hill's Geminatrix. Mary filled in as a lead vocalist for the Amorphous Band on several occasions. As a guest vocalist for Geminatrix, Mary performed at the Halloween show, the New Year's Eve show, and was recorded live by Clear Channel's Instant Live on February 5, 2005 at The Paradise Lounge in Boston. The song she performed, co-written with drummer Aaron Katz, consists of Katz' original music from the song "Stadium" with the addition of new lyrics and a new vocal melody by Kull.
ABOUT MARY KULL
Mary Kull has been performing since age 9 and remembers writing lyrics and melodies when she was only 7. As a young soloist-as well as a choir member and musical performer-Mary was voted "class singer" by her 8th grade classmates; she went on to help her high school choir win first place honors at the National Jazz Festival in Atlanta. Mary received a B.A. in English from the University of Vermont, and began both sitting-in with bands throughout the country and establishing her own projects.
In Bozeman, Montana, Mary and musician Deirdre Egan formed the duo, The Mayfair Girls. Egan-a pianist, guitarist, Irish harpist, and singer/songwriter-formed an instant musical connection with Mary. With beautifully blended voices, intricate harmonies, unique originals and a stylistic portrayal of jazz/blues/folk favorites, the duo quickly gained acclaim on the Bozeman music scene. Their presence merited a front-page article in The Exponent, as well as a live radio performance on KGLT and a 2-hour performance at The Taste of Bozeman Festival where several thousand attended their performance. The Mayfair Girls played several shows in New York City and also performed at the Dover Brickhouse in Dover, New Hampshire.
Mary co-wrote and sang the vocal harmonies for Deirdre's 2nd studio album entitled September's Lemonade. Listen to music clips and find out more about Deirdre Egan.
*Due to conflicting locations The Mayfair Girls are now performing on an intermittent basis.
In her spare time, Mary has kept busy giving live performances on a volunteer basis. Her volunteer work includes a concert to benefit Victims of Domestic Violence, the Childhood Cancer Lifeline Blues Festival, and a holiday show at The Seacoast Mental Health Center.
Miss Kull returned to the New Hampshire Seacoast area because "there's a great music scene here, there are some really talented local musicians, bands, and cool venues to play, and it's a short drive to Boston, New York, and other parts of the Northeast. . . plus this is where my roots are. . . I love this area!"
